30 Poems in 30 Days - Day 9

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will be the first to admit meter is not my strong point. When reading metered poems people often end up doing what I call Dr. Seusing them. At a recent poetry forum a young woman was reading anothers poetry and I had to stop her and said 'you're dr. seusing it!" and the author agreed and asked me to try it. In HS I had a wonderful enlish teacher who taught us to read metered poetry without the emphasis...ta DA ta DA ta DA ta DA...etc,. All that said here's my first attempt.

CRAFT

“Oh!” she cried, “don’t be daft.
Give more freedom to your craft.”
"Surely at the stake I’d burn,
if of my craft the public learned.

My book of spells I hold dear
‘tis my craft the people fear.
Alas, my friend here’s the hitch,
hide your craft if you’re a witch."
