These days I find myself wishing that politicians would have to take an oath similar to the doctors hippocratic oath. The second portion of this oath is to do no harm. It seems politicians take a similar oath but it is more like the hypocritic oath. Say one thing and do another, lie and not care how much harm it does others as long as it gets them elected.
So, for the first time in my voting history I find myself faced with a dilemna. I am scared for my country. Both parties, for some strange reason, have given us the worst possible candidate they could. Is this some sort of moral test for voters? So, what do we have to choose from. A democrat who lies with every word out of his mouth and a republican who has to spend more time defending his record with the current administration than getting his own message out. Obama has run the most negative ads and then accuses the republican campaign of running a negative campaign. Obama's policies scare the living shit out of me! If I wanted to live in a socialist republic I would be living in the Soviet Union. I like our country as a democracy and democracy works. Unfortunately, just like the Soviet Union, we also have our corrupt in the govt. and it is they who have ruined things for us. So now we are asked to choose between the lesser of two evils.
It is, in my honest and most humble opinion, John McCain who will do less harm. Notice, I didn't say do no harm, but less harm. Under a McCain administration we will have our problems, but they will be 1/10the the problems and set backs we will have under an Obama administration. I fear for my country. I fear for democracy. So, I am asking people to open their ears and their minds and listen to what each candidate is saying. John McCain, for all his problems, loves this country and truly wants to turn things around and make good changes while saving our democratic society. Obama wants to turn things around and make changes while destroying our democratic society and turning the good old US of A into a socialist republic. Use your vote wisely. Save our country. Save democracy. Vote McCain and then do everything you can to preserve the United States of America as the United States and not the Socialist States of America. Good night and good luck.

Sadly, all too true.

Although I disagree with you and think Obama is truly the candidate of the century, I do think it's time to think about the government as a WHOLE. With prominent Republicans leaving the fold at this point to support Obama, and the swing states swinging more and more blue, I think the route that Elizabeth Dole is taking is the smart one.
As much as I am glad it looks like Obama is going to win, and that Dems will control the House, I do believe the Republicans need to keep control of the Senate. That's what "balance of power" is all about. Even I, who believes our government NEEDS to be more socialistic, don't want to give EITHER PARTY a blank check. It was Bush with a fully Republican Congress that pushed us downhill on this economic spiral. I don't think President Obama with a filibuster-proof Senate and majority in the House will be good for the country either.
And if you're really frustrated, think about voting for a 3rd party candidate. If this wasn't such an important election, I would be voting for Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party. There are also many other candidates including Libertarian Bob Barr who is most in line with the policies I've seen you espouse here.
(Gee, I guess I should have thought of this for my blog post. I may copy and paste. <-;
Later though. Time to go find food. And I really want to write about "Farmer in Chief".)
Bush has not had a fully republican congress. Two years ago the democrats took control with all kinds of promises of change and doing away with the corruption and what have they done. NOTHING! except make things even worse. We can't put all the blame on the republicans with a congress divided at 48% republicans and 51% democrats. The democrats have been the majority and still did nothing and voted with the current white house Resident on many issues. And if I were Obama I wouldn't be so quick to start packing. The police in Ohio, PA,and other states are already gearing up for riot control in case Obama loses. They don't have the same worry if McCain loses. I will leave that up to anyone's interpretation of what this says about both sides.
I haven't counted the votes first. I know there's a chance Obama will lose. But if he wins, he's likely to take both houses of Congress with him. All I'm saying is that it might be a good idea to "spread the wealth around" of political contributions to help individual Republican Senate races rather than only concentrating on the President.
Elizabeth Dole is a prime example. Prominent, moderate Republicans are fighting for their seats. I just think we need a reminder that this is not just a Presidential race.
And now that I've done my "farmer in chief" post, I'll try to get this one I've been writing in pieces here up.
Hey! I just noticed! You reached my goal for number of posts for the year, 104. That's an average of 2 per week. I didn't think it would be that hard, and I feel like I post often, but I only have 84 posts so far!
yeah, I've noticed I've been spouting off a lot more this year. Last year I only had 43 posts for the entire year! This has been a more interesting year :-).
