Way To Go John McCain!!!!

At least one of the presidential candidates wasn't afraid to put a woman on the ballot! Wow! Brave move John McCain and a smart one. While Obama, the candidate of change, played it safe and stuck to the old school and old politics of choosing an old white male as his running mate, McCain chose to the road of change and scrapped politics as usual and picked a woman. She is the first woman ever to serve on the republican ticket! Talk about change and a bold move!

BREAKING NEWS
MSNBC and NBC News
updated 18 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain has chosen Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, campaign officials told NBC News on Friday.

She would be the first woman to serve on a Republican presidential ticket. The anti-abortion Palin would also be the first Alaskan ever to appear on a national ticket.

Palin, 44, was elected Alaska's first woman governor in 2006. The state’s voters had grown weary of career politician Gov. Frank Murkowski, whom she defeated in the GOP primary.

Regardless of whether one agrees with the republican view of politics I feel he should be give a lot of credit for being the real candidate of change.

Actually I thought it was a sell out to try to pick up Hilary supporters.

Yup, a sell out to pick up Hillary supporters and cop out since she is against anything that would help women's rights, ecology, etc. She is against abortion rights, wears real fur and wants to drill in ANWAR.

And I hope you are not implying that the only reason Hillary didn't get the nomination is because the Democrats aren't BRAVE. My god, they have a black man at the top of the ticket.

I like it that they put a woman on the ticket so that history will be made no matter who wins, but I think we have a much better chance at having a future where we can actually look back on that history if we elect Obama

And if you really look at it, Obama was brave to NOT put Hillary on the ticket. I supported her, but her supporters were so obnoxious they even turned ME off.

I don't see it as a sell out. I see it as a smart move to get the Hillary votes. After all the dems are running a mullato (not a black) and calling him african american to get the black vote. he chose an old white man to get the white vote. why is it fair for one side to play the political game but not the other? and yes, the only reason Hillary didn't get the nomination is the dems were afraid to run a woman as a frontrunner. She was the best candidate they had and they blew it by dissing her the way they did.

Also, lets not forget one woman can never speak for all women as all women don't have the identical political views. There are a lot of women who are not pro abortion, who do wear furs, and as for drilling for oil we can't have it both ways... we can't say we don't want to be dependent on foreign oil, but at the same time not mess up our shores by drilling at home. The NIMBY syndrome is still alive and well. Because a group of women have certain beliefs does not mean all government decisions should focus on them alone. It should work for the common good, not just special interest groups.

Okay, we disagree on a few things and I'll have to do a blog post about it. LOL. My friend Anita and I used to go out for lunch and loudly debate politics and then go back to work and still be best friends. No one else could ever figure it out.

Anyway, one thing still to address here that you didn't respond to. "At least one of the presidential candidates wasn't afraid to put a woman on the ballot." That is insulting, incorrect and unnecessary. Couldn't you have congratulated McCain without turning it into an insult to another brave political party who put a nonwhite male at the top of the ticket.

LOL! I know what you mean about being able to stay friends, but debate issues. I have friends like that here and you and I have had some "good debates :-)" over the years and still respect the others point of view and dang, I still like you as a person.

Okay, maybe I could have done that, but dang it all, Obama had a chance to really make history. A mullato man and a white woman on the same ticket and let's face it, that would have been the winningiest ticket (i think i just invented a word). Hillary should have been on top of the ticket, in my humble opinion. but I would have accepted either one. And Obama himself convinced me that if not Hillary then John McCain was my best choice. All through the debates, etc he kept saying that Hillary and John McCain were running on the same side of the issues. :-)

LOL. My response to this was getting so long I put it on my own blog.
