This morning started off like any typical Saturday morning. I slept in, got up and fed the cats, brought in the paper, got into the shower when suddenly I hear the most horrendous booming sound! I turn off the shower and realize it is the loudest thunder I have ever heard! no joke! then a boom so loud all the cats run down the hall to my bedroom. I think some went under the bed! In the living room a lamp was on the floor...I think the cats knocked it over in their hasty retreat. My husband had turned on his scanner and heard a fire call for the house across the street. I looked out and didn't see a fire, so got dressed to investigate and see if my neighbor needed help. She and the woman next door are related so when I saw the other woman over their I stayed out of the way of the fire trucks and fire men. There was no fire but lightning had hit her house and she has a nice hole in the side and part of the front of her house. When she came out she was in her night clothes so she must have also been sleeping in and the lightning woke her. I'll talk with my neighbor tomorrow and see what happened. That had to be a scary way to wake up.
After it all calmed down and the rain let up I went to the college to see a play, by they students in the drama class, taught by my friend and one of my poets, Kathleen Roy. This one was The Amen Corner. I thought the students did a good job on it. I'd like better enunciation and some still need to speak a bit louder - even with mics there were some I never heard, so missed some vital parts of the play. But over all I'd give them a good grade. The lead was superb and she carried the play and made it worth watching.

Two close major fires and now a lightning strike across the street. Is God trying to tell us something? KXJ01
