Pie Day :-)
My husband is a math professor, at Morris College, here in Sumter, SC. Yesterday was March 14th, which is a very significant day in math terms. Every math person out there already knows where this is leading. (3.14 = pi) So we had a little fun with his class. I told them they had to guess what day it was and until I wrote 3.14 on the board no one knew. Once they guessed the first thing out of their mouths was, "do we get pies?" I, of course, came prepared and gave each of them an individual apple pie. A play on an apple for the teacher.
I then went to the math class next door, but they were better prepared. One was a freshman who had done pi or pie day in highschool the year before. So, when I asked if they new what day it was she said pi day and asked if they got pies. Dang! too smart and too fast. She said they always had pizza pie or something on March 14th. So, it was a fun day. My husband said the students were very pleased with themselves. One took all the pies over the breakroom and heated them in the microwave and they ate them during the class. It's funny how a little thing like that can make a day a bit more fun.

Maybe I would've liked Math if we'd had a Pie day. ;)
Should we celebrate march 16th? It would be the square root of ten day......Hmmm doesn't work as well as pi day does it? Oh well, its a thought. Kxj01
I managed to forget about this this year because of things going on my life, but I usually print out Pi to 10,000 digits and hang it around the room. Last year, I had the STUDENTS bring pies if they wanted to celebrate and one class brought a bunch of them. I'll have to plan ahead next year.
One other math teacher at the school shaved the pi symbol into the sides of his crew cut!
